Patreon Explainer Video Case Study

Assignment: For Motion Graphics II at NEIT. The assignment was to create a motion graphic video on a service. I chose to do in on the website Patreon which is a website where artists of all kinds can set up a crowdfunding page to support their art pieces.

Starting Out

After choosing my site and looking at it for both the information and inspiration. I wanted the style of the animation to look as closely to the style of their webpage. With the help of the websites logo I was inspired to do something that had a modern-esk art style.

Inspiration

I decided early on to adapt the style from the website along with it’s color pallet of orange, blue and white.

I then had to figure out how I wanted to present all the information with visuals.

Assets

Imitating the style from the website I created all of the assets for the animation in Adobe Illustrator.

Animating

In Adobe After effects I created several comps strung together creating each part of the animation. The complicated parts of this animation was figuring out how to seamlessly go into each part without them looking like they’re in separate comps.  After figuring out every step for me it was simply tweaking each and every part until I got to the final version above.
