Creating Cinemagraphs

For Web Asset Production at NEIT I had to create two cinemagraphs that could be used for marketing purposes. I decided to choose Alex and Ani as my choice for my cinemagraphs.

Story Boarding

So first after viewing how cinemagraphs work. They are simply a video that has only one part that has movement while the rest is a still image. So I then had to storyboard how I wanted the cinemagraphs to play out. Like the bracelets swinging without the arm moving and the light shining on only one piece of the bracelet.

Shooting the Cinemagraphs

The shine effect was done by using a small flashlight over the entire piece and then masking out only the parts I wanted to show.

To get the bracelet swinging effect I had to keep my arm as still as possible. I used an armrest of a chair to keep it level so that when I masked it nothing would be too out of place and not work.

This one one of several shots that had to be taken because the slightest movement meant that the mask would be off-kilter its the reason why only one bracelet is moving because my arm slightly shaking would be seen if all of them were masked.

Branding

The value of these two pieces is that they show off values of the bracelets that a picture wouldn’t be able to display. The social media I would choose to post on would be Twitter since they have a following and hashtags already dedicated to them.

What I learned

I got to experiment a lot with this assignment and it really helped me improve with composing shots and filming. If you want to find out more feel free to leave a comment below or send me a message over here.
