Inspired by the 1950s, the goal for this Photoshop assignment for NEIT was to create a vintage ad for a new technology or service. The service I chose to create an advertisement for was the social media application Tumblr.
Pieced Together - Main Image
The final advertisement was created using several images composited together to create the final piece. The main image was from a vintage magazine selling clothes. The woman was cropped out of this image below.
For the final piece the picture was edited with a blue overlay the image changed from warm to cool. This fit with the blue color scheme Tumblr has. Next, are the images that were edited into the picture.
Other Images
These three images were cropped and edited to fit the image. There was a texture that was also added to make them fit in the time period. Which leads to the final image below.
What I learned
From this project, I was able to apply the skills, masking and color correction to the image. This also helped me explore an older style to try replicating it. If I could do this assignment again I would try and create something with more curly type to better capture the 50’s feel.
